Back in Hawaii - Quick trip to O'ahu island before Covid

Oahu - Kalakaua Ave dance bwWe wanted to get away from the cold weather and the first thing we thought about is one of our favorite islands. Guess where?

O'ahu island. So to O'ahu island we went. And this was on the cusp of the Covid pandemic surge so it was a quick trip.

Let me show you virtually what we did in the island for five days.

Back in Boracay - Relaxing stay in the island

Boracay - Day 2 beach bwA beach vacation doing nothing was something Mijo and I have been craving for and Boracay island is a place we wanted to go back to. That is just what we did when we went back to Manila.

It was such a relaxing trip and I wouldn't mind doing it all over again.

Life is a beach - My unforgettable trip to Mykonos

Mykonos - Little Venice harbor bw Mykonos is like Santorini's younger and hipper sibling. Whatever Mykonos lacks in sunset views it makes up for its beaches and the party vibe to lure the monied and the beautiful and also us - the commoners.

Our trip to the island of Delos to get a dose of archeology and history was a bonus!

Life is a Beach - My memorable trip to Santorini

Santorini - Fira St John Theologian morning view bwSantorini for me was blue skies, island landscape, white on white houses, turquoise water and the sunshine.

After this trip, Santorini is just pure magical beauty where time stands still.

Life is a beach - Back in Puerto Galera

Puerto Galera - Sand sign bwPuerto Galera was our next logical destination from Sibale island. It is only a few hours from the Port of Calapan.

It was great to be back to this place even if it was just for a very short time.

Life is a beach - My unforgettable travels to Sibale Island

Sibale island - Boats bqI went there with my siblings to take care of family business. Instead of doing just that, the trip ended up as a wonderful beach holiday and an amazing time reconnecting with family.

Probably one of my favorite islands in the entire universe, I hope to be back to Sibale one of these days.

Coron - Barracuda Lake boat depot bw
Sun, sea, reefs, majestic cliffs, white sands, and dramatic sceneries. Coron is breathtaking.

I am happy to announce that Coron is one of the places Mijo and I have added to our recommended destinations in the Philippines.

Life is a Beach - Back in Oahu

Waikiki Beach - SunsetAloha! It has been years since I first traveled to the Hawaiian island of Oahu. Twelve years to be exact.

Life is a Beach - Relaxing in Bali

Bali - Bali UmbrellasMijo and I finally made it to Bali, Indonesia! All I can say is that I now see why people like Bali. It is easy to romanticize.

Aside from a relaxing beach scene, we both enjoyed the food and the unique culture in the island. Thank you, Bali!

Life is a Beach - Back in Boracay

Boracay - Looking northWe needed to take care of a personal business in Manila so we decided to spend a little over two weeks in the Philippines. While there, the whole family went to Boracay for a short island getaway.

Though the island has changed so much from the last time I visited, the white and powdery sands still remain unchanged.

Bohol in my Mind - My memorable trips to Bohol

Bohol - Sign
Bohol is probably one of my favorite islands in the world. For me, the island experience is a complete package. It does not only have pristine white sand beaches and torquoise water, it has centuries old landmarks and natural wonders.

This blog is dedicated to the beautiful island of Bohol.

Life is a Beach - Relaxing in Phuket and Phi Phi Islands

Phuket - island We were in Thailand in the later part of November because we got an invite from our friends A&M to come visit them in Amphawa for the Loy Krathong or Festival of Lights. Before we went to Amphawa, Mijo and I took a detour and decided to check out the  country's most famous beaches.

We didn't only enjoy a relaxing getaway, we also enjoyed the picturesque views of the islands. Check them out here.

Lost in Cebu

From the Cebu Business Park, it costs about 50 pesos worth of cab ride to get to Mango Square. Mango Square, we were told, is that area on General Maxilom Avenue bounded by the Fuente Osmeña on the west and stretches about four to five city blocks going south. It is reputed to be the city's nightlife hotspot. I never really understood what that meant until we got there. We were only looking for a good gay bar to have a couple of rounds of drinks.

¡Que suerte en San Juan!

It took me a while to find a slot-machine with the view of the wide screen tv. I wanted to secure a seat with a view so I can watch the much awaited Pacquiao-Hutton match. Earlier that day, we had gone beach hopping in San Juan where we walked what could have been four miles of coast line. We started from Isla Verde, east of the city, and walked westward to Ocean Park and then finally to Condado beach taking a cerveza break in between beaches. Take note that walking on sand is much harder compared to strolling on concrete sidewalk. So imagine how incredibly soothing on my back and legs to just sit down inside the hotel’s casino.

Balitang Rio (September 2005)

There are so many things to write about Rio De Janeiro. I scribbled a lot while I was at the beach so I have tons of notes but I'd rather not bore you with details. Rio is so blessed by nature it has beautiful beaches, breathtaking scenery, romantic language, and sensual, laidback and very friendly locals. I loved it!
