I had free time at work and I took that chance to go somewhere where I can relax. The first thing that came to mind was to go back to Manila.
My time off was not a lot so I made sure that I plan my days carefully and this included the places to eat. Luckily, my vacation turned out not only good for the soul but for the taste buds as well.
Finally, going to Los Angeles and not going to any theme parks, not meeting any relatives and not just a stop over on a long drive to Mexico.
In this trip, this Filipino guy discovered the cultured side of LA. I immensely enjoyed what I saw. It is a different side of LA I've been wanting to experience.
I like the Northwest United States. Lush, green scenery, fresh air and still giving you that feeling that you are in the West Coast.
Portland may not be an international destination but it has lots of things to offer to travelers. This Filipino guy absolutely enjoyed the sites, food and wine in and around Portland.
I go back to Manila at least once a year to see my mom and the entire family and friends and I've been doing it for over 15 years now. Manila is changing at a fast pace and I like what I am rediscovering each year. For one thing, there are more restaurants and places to eat now than before and they serve truly good food.
For two weeks, I tried to take pictures of what I ate while I was in Manila. This blog contains twentyfive savory meals, desserts and drinks I sampled with Mijo, with my family and friends. Enjoy!
We were in Thailand in the later part of November because we got an invite from our friends A&M to come visit them in Amphawa for the Loy Krathong or Festival of Lights. Before we went to Amphawa, Mijo and I took a detour and decided to check out the country's most famous beaches.
We didn't only enjoy a relaxing getaway, we also enjoyed the picturesque views of the islands. Check them out here.
Mijo and I were back in Thailand in the later part of November because we got an invite from one of our friends in San Francisco to come visit them in Amphawa and Loy Krathong or Festival of Lights. I've never seen anything like it. Mijo and I had so much fun.

We found an online package tour in Guatemala that fell on the Labor Day day weekend and the best of all - it was on sale. We were not planning to go anywhere until we saw that ad.
At first, Mijo and I were dreading being hauled from city to city on a tour bus with other tourists. Not only that proved to be the best option when you don't have a lot of time traveling, we also got lucky that our tour guides are very knowledgeable and tour group was a happy bunch!

Molto Bene! This is my canned answer whenever someone asks me how was my birthday trip to Florence.
Six years ago, Mijo suggested we spend my birthday in Rome. We enjoyed it so much that we promised we'll do it again when we get a chance. For my birthday this year, we thought of going to Florence. And what a birthday trip it was! Just like Rome, Florence or Firenze in Italian, is dotted with churches, arts, plazas, cafes and antiquities. I couldn't even tell you my Top 3 favorites because I have so many and I don't even know where to begin.
